Cost Comparison

Aspirin

$5–$20/month

Aspirin is available over-the-counter at a very low cost, often less than $5 for a large supply. Discount cards can sometimes offer minor savings on the prescription version, but it's generally more cost-effective to buy OTC.

Celecoxib

$150–$400/month

Since Celecoxib is available as a generic, comparing prices at different pharmacies and using discount cards like GoodRx can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket cost. Some manufacturers also offer patient assistance programs for those who qualify.

Drug Interaction: Moderate

High-dose aspirin combined with celecoxib negates celecoxib's GI safety advantage and increases GI bleeding risk.

Mechanism: Aspirin inhibits COX-1-mediated prostaglandin production in the GI mucosa, removing the protective benefit of selective COX-2 inhibition.
